Jessica Sansone is a Pilates teacher in Manhattan and Brooklyn. She has been teaching since 2003 and was certified through The Pilates Studio of New York, now known as Romana’s Pilates.

An avid martial artist in Kung Fu, Kajukenbo, and a runner for many years, Jessica experienced a sacroiliac joint injury and found that Pilates was the only form of exercise she could practice without re-injury. Transitioning from high impact movement to the more gentle flow of Pilates had a huge impact on how Jessica viewed building strength. Inspired by the precision and control of the Pilates Method Jessica chose to study Pilates seriously and began training to be an instructor in 2001.

Jessica has attended workshops with Master teachers Romana Kyzanowska, Lolita San Miguel, Kathy Grant and Jay Grimes, all of whom were taught directly by Joseph Pilates. For almost ten years she studied with Daniel Loigerot, a former world-class triathlete and professional coach, owner and principal instructor at DLFit Pilates and Wellness Studio in New York City. Currently, Jessica studies with protégé of Kathy Grant, Blossom Lellani Crawford, owner and Director of Bridge Pilates Studio in Brooklyn, New York.

In 2010, when Jessica gave birth to her son, she experienced a separation of the rectus abdominus muscles, a common occurrence in pregnancy.  In her efforts to reverse this, she worked with a Physical Therapist to master the unique care needed in working with pregnancy and postpartum clients to ensure the chosen exercises are appropriate to their needs. Jessica draws on her training, years of teaching experience and personal physical challenges to customize safe and challenging workouts. Jessica brings expertise, precision and a collaborative approach to her practice and enjoys working with all students: athletes, older adults, prenatal and postpartum clients or people with back and other specific injuries.
